Review: Bright We Burn (The Conqueror's Saga #3) by Kiersten White

22817368Summary from Goodreads:

Haunted by the sacrifices he made in Constantinople, Radu is called back to the new capital. Mehmed is building an empire, becoming the sultan his people need. But Mehmed has a secret: as emperor, he is more powerful than ever . . . and desperately lonely. Does this mean Radu can finally have more with Mehmed . . . and would he even want it?

Lada's rule of absolute justice has created a Wallachia free of crime. But Lada won't rest until everyone knows that her country's borders are inviolable. Determined to send a message of defiance, she has the bodies of Mehmed's peace envoy delivered to him, leaving Radu and Mehmed with no choice. If Lada is allowed to continue, only death will prosper. They must go to war against the girl prince.

But Mehmed knows that he loves her. He understands her. She must lose to him so he can keep her safe. Radu alone fears that they are underestimating his sister's indomitable will. Only by destroying everything that came before--including her relationships--can Lada truly build the country she wants.

Claim the throne. Demand the crown. Rule the world.

My Review:

What I Liked:

Characters. I loved reading more from some of my favorite young adult characters. The book is once again from the POV's of Lada and Radu, two of my now favorite characters in fiction! The side characters were great as well, especially Radu's family. :)

Ending. I had no idea what to expect when it came to the series conclusion. However, I found the ending satisfying. I'm now interested in checking out the what really happened with Vlad the impaler and his brother Radu, and this coming from someone who does not read nonfiction.

Writing Style. I've come to adore Kiersten White's writing style. It is beautiful and flows well. I now have a desire to read every book of hers. :)

Romance. I tend to not like romance but in this case it was done well. It did not overtake the plot at all instead it just added to it.

What I Disliked:

Pacing. I struggled to get into the third book in the beginning and it took me a good 100 pages before I was really invested.

I recommend checking out this amazing series. It had interesting characters, it was thrilling and also well-written.

My Rating:

4.5 Stars Out of 5 Stars
